Yagel Yaakov Yaniv Z”L (20), who was murdered along with his brother Hillel Menachem Yaniv Z”L (22) in the shooting terror attack yesterday (Sunday) in Hawara was due to complete an MDA EMT course in Hadera next week. MDA mourns their murder. Hillel and Yagel, residents of Har Bracha, were buried today in Har Herzl in Jerusalem.

Dvir Prois, from Yagel’s course: “I met Yagel in High School, and we met again on the course. He was an amazing friend, a smiley and generous person, who wanted to give back to Israeli society and to help others. He dreamed of joining an elite IDF unit and protect the people of Israel, but was murdered before he could. He was a very successful student on the course, and was an inspiration to all of us. This is a very difficult time, and I send strength to his family. May his memory be a blessing.”

MDA Senior EMT Gil Bismut, a resident of Har Bracha who treated Yagel Z”L and his brother Hillel Z”L eulogized them: “I arrived on scene and immediately recognized the victims. They are close family and it was very difficult to see them like that. We fought to save their lives, but unfortunately their injuries were too severe, and we didn’t succeed. This is a huge and painful loss and the heart can’t contain it. I send condolences to their dear family and share their pain.”

MDA Senior EMT Avihoo Grassgrin, course instructor: “Throughout the entire course, I saw Yagel Z”L, a student drive to learn and to help, a smiley and professional person. The evening after the murder we held an evening in his memory with the members of the course in the Hadera MDA Station. We will not forget him. May his memory be a blessing.”

MDA Director General Eli Bin: “We in Magen David Adom are horrified, shocked and in hurting following the murder of two brothers, the salt of the earth, Yagel and Hillel Z’’L, who were murdered in cold blood in the terror attack. Yagel Z”L was filled with love for all and with the will to help everyone in Israeli society, something he did during his lifetime. Yagel Z”L was just a moment away from completing the MDA EMT course, and he told his friends that his dream was to join the MDA Medicycle Responders’ Unit, so he could arrive quickly on scene and save lives. Unfortunately he didn’t achieve this dream. We hold the family close, send them our deepest condolences and share their sadness. May the memories of Yagel and Hillel be blessed.”
